Pediatric Cardiology Health Sciences Series - Heart Failure and Transplantation

UCLA Mattel Children's Hospital Division of Pediatric Cardiology is seeking a Pediatric heart failure and transplantation physician. Applicants should have formal 4th year fellowship training in Pediatric heart failure, cardiomyopathy, transplantation, and mechanical circulatory support and must be board certified/eligible in Pediatric Cardiology. Current trainees are welcome to apply.
The Heart Transplant program at UCLA Mattel Children's Hospital was established in 1984. We have grown to average ~12 transplants a year and 4-6 ventricular assist devices a year, in patients of all complexities, with great outcomes. We recently performed our programs 500th transplant. We currently follow greater than 100 post-transplant patients and a similar number of heart failure patients. The new faculty member will join the team as a junior transplant cardiologist working with our group of four academic specialized cardiologists (Dr. Leigh Reardon, Dr. Nancy Halnon, and Dr. Juan “Chuck” Alejos), two transplant coordinator/nurse practitioner and an extensive multidisciplinary team who serve our cardiomyopathy/ventricular device/ heart failure/transplant population. We have outreach clinics at several local hospitals. The UCLA Mattel Children's Heart Transplant/Heart Failure team also spearheads the single ventricle, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, muscular dystrophies and pulmonary hypertension programs. These programs are multidisciplinary including hepatologists, electrophysiologists, neuromuscular specialist and pulmonologists. We also benefit from the adult transplant programs and their vast experience. Our center participates in multiple research/collaborative databases as well as clinical research studies.
The UCLA Mattel Children's Heart Center serves a population of over 25 million in the heart of the USA. Our referral base locally extends over 4 counties. Annually, we perform over 300 cardiac surgeries (including hybrid procedures), over 600 cardiac catheterizations (including EP procedures), and 18,000 echocardiograms. We have a growing group of cardiologists covering all other subspecialties (EP, interventional, advanced imaging and fetal. We have a collaborative program with Children's Hospital Orange County with joint conferences and we are responsible for the care of their cardiomyopathy population.
The position also includes a faculty appointment at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. In addition to heart failure/transplant care, applicants will also participate in general cardiology outpatient clinics, inpatient cardiology service, consults and occasional general cardiology call. Salary and academic rank are commensurate with experience.

The UCLA Steve Tisch BrainSPORT Program is a multidisciplinary center aimed at providing the world's best sports-concussion care for youth athletes. We have relationships with various professional and collegiate athletic programs and also close partnerships with the U.S. Military and U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs, through UCLA Operation Mend. In our two-year clinical and research fellowship, trainees will work closely with clinic attending neurologists and neuropsychologists.

The Heart Transplant program at UCLA Mattel Children's Hospital was established in 1984. We have grown to average ~12 transplants a year and 4-6 ventricular assist devices a year, in patients of all complexities, with great outcomes. We recently performed our programs 500th transplant. We currently follow greater than 100 post-transplant patients and a similar number of heart failure patients. The new faculty member will join the team as a junior transplant cardiologist working with our group of three academic specialized cardiologists (Dr. Leigh Reardon, Dr. Nancy Halnon, and Dr. Juan “Chuck” Alejos), two transplant coordinator/nurse practitioner and an extensive multidisciplinary team who serve our cardiomyopathy/ventricular device/ heart failure/transplant population. We have outreach clinics at several local hospitals. The UCLA Mattel Children's Heart Transplant/Heart Failure team also spearheads the Single Ventricle, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, muscular dystrophies and pulmonary hypertension programs. These programs are multidisciplinary including hepatologists, electrophysiologists, neuromuscular specialist and pulmonologists. We also benefit from the adult transplant programs and their vast experience. Our center participates in in multiple research/collaborative databases as well as clinical research studies.
The UCLA Mattel Children's Heart Center serves a population of over 25 million in the heart of the USA. Our referral base locally extends over 4 counties. Annually, we perform over 300 cardiac surgeries (including hybrid procedures), over 600 cardiac catheterizations (including EP procedures), and 18,000 echocardiograms. We have a growing group of cardiologists covering all other subspecialties (EP, interventional, advanced imaging and fetal. We have a collaborative program with Children's Hospital Orange County with joint conferences and we are responsible for the care of their cardiomyopathy population.
The position also includes a faculty appointment at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. In addition to heart failure/transplant care, applicants will also participate in general cardiology outpatient clinics, inpatient cardiology service, consults and occasional general cardiology call. The Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition at the University of California, Los Angeles is recruiting for full-time faculty positions either at the Clinical Instructor, Assistant, or Associate professor level, in the Health Sciences (HS) clinical faculty series. The selected candidate will join eight full-time faculty members and two part time faculty members and six fellows in a major academic medical center with an established fellowship training program. Candidates must possess a medical degree and valid license, certification in the American Board of Pediatrics, and be either Board certified or Board eligible in Pediatric Gastroenterology. The candidate must have demonstrated experience in the practice and teaching of clinical Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition and have clinical experience in Pediatric Liver Transplantation.
The Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition at the University of California, Los Angeles was established in 1974 and since then has established a long legacy of excellence in patient care and research with many of its faculty recognized as leaders in the field nationally and internationally. The Mattel Children's Hospital is located in the Ronald Reagan Medical Center and is dedicated particularly to tertiary and quaternary care across all pediatric subspecialties. Our Division was on the frontier of developing pediatric liver and intestinal rehabilitation and transplantation programs. A strength of our clinical program is the longstanding close collaboration with our surgical partners in transplantation and pediatric surgery. We have a robust outpatient clinical program both on the main campus and also in three community clinics. Our Division is supported by dedicated GI/Transplant nurses, dietitians, psychologists, and social workers.
