Annual Salary Range: $56,834.65 - $107,078.45

Role/Responsibilities

This position will support the environmental review, monitoring, and reporting functions related to capital project implementation. This position will serve as a technical resource to various multidisciplinary project teams that include engineering staff, on-call environmental consultants, and resource/regulatory agencies to facilitate environmental compliance.

The Environmental Planning team provides expertise by leading the environmental review, permitting, and regulatory compliance activities for the SANDAG Capital Improvement Programs, as well as conducting the environmental review for planning programs.

Experience and Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree with major course work in urban, regional, or environmental planning, environmental science, soil science, plant ecology, biology, geography, or a related field. A combination of education, and recent work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • One to three years of increasingly responsible, professional environmental planning experience.
  • Knowledge of the principles and trends, of regional planning, particularly in the areas of environmental planning, stormwater management, environmental mitigation, natural resources, and related fields.
  • Knowledge of federal and state laws, regulations, and requirements pertaining to environmental planning, specifically NEPA and CEQA; familiarity with current trends.
  • Ability to inform, educate, and involve the public in the environmental review process.
